A personal fusion of blues and country music genres make "Things Happen That Way" an excellent record, one of the best of Dr. John's output.
Released posthumously (Mac Rebennack, Dr. John's real name, passed away on June 6, 2019), "Things Happen That Way" was released in September 2022 and features, in addition to compositions by the record's owner, reinterpretations of songs from the portfolios of Willie Nelson (who was present, as a guest, at the recording of "Things Happen That Way"), Hank Williams, The Traveling Wilburys.
