MICHAEL CHAPMAN
"50" (2017)
Active in the record industry since the ’60s (as a matter of fact, "Rainmaker", his first record, made for Harvest label, dates back to 1969), Michael Chapman released his clear album "50" in early 2017.
The over-seventy English musician (born in Leeds in 1941), has always been an outsider on the British folk rock scene. His acoustic guitar skills have attracted the attention and acclamation of a vast audience of musicians, including American producer Steve Gunn, whose electric guitar performs in most of the ten pieces on "50".
Some of the tracks are revisited versions of compositions from Chapman's previous production, while others were specially recorded for the occasion. In both cases, lyrics inspired by actual events are associated with intense, almost magical, texture, often impregnated with intriguing psychedelia.
