A Canadian from Perth-Andover (a small village of just over 1,500 inhabitants located in the province of New Brunswick), with elegant songwriting and a voice that is often powerful and sometimes captivating, singer-songwriter Matt Andersen released his most intimate album in 2025.
"The Hammer & The Rose" contains ten refined compositions, all made fascinating by the singer's interpretation and the valuable contribution of excellent musicians, including Joshua Van Tassell on drums and percussion (also the album's producer) and Christine Bougie on lap steel guitar.
Andersen wrote eight of the ten tracks on the album, while "Countin' Quarters" was composed by Ryan and Scott Hupman and "Magnolia" is one of J.J. Cale's most famous songs.
