With her warm and captivating voice, Louisville, Kentucky-based singer-songwriter Joan Shelley has received positive reviews from music critics for her seventh album, "Real Warmth", as she has for her previous recordings.
Recorded at Casa Wroxton Studios in Toronto by Ben Whiteley (who also produced and mixed the album and is a member of The Weather Station), "Real Warmth" is a remarkable collection of thirteen songs composed by Shelley and performed with the support of excellent musicians including saxophonist Karen Ng, drummer Philippe Melanson, singer and guitarist Doug Paisley, the aforementioned Whiteley on bass, and guitarist (and Joan Shelley's husband) Nathan Salsburg.
