AMANDA SHIRES
Nobody's Girl (2025)
"Nobody's Girl" is Amanda Shires' first album (again produced by Lawrence Rothman) released after her separation from her husband, musician Jason Isbell. She seems to prefer rock sounds and smooth ballads to the country folk of old, which in some cases definitely wink at US radio stations and sometimes at smooth pop.
Born in Lubbock, Texas, on March 5, 1982, the artist sings and plays the violin, as well as the tenor guitar and ukulele. She tackles her personal vicissitudes more or less explicitly and is accompanied by excellent musicians, including the aforementioned Lawrence Rothman, Peter Levin, Joe Kennedy, and Pino Palladino.
