Already present in the world of music since the late ‘50s, and boasting a large discography, Dion (stage name Dion Francis DiMucci, born in Bronx, New York City, 18th July 1939) has received recognition throughout his career not just from specialist critics, but also from his fellow musicians.
It is alongside such famous artists (and friends, as per the name of the album) that he recorded the brilliant “Blues With Friends”. Dion was joined in the work by high-calibre musicians such as Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Jeff Beck, John Hammond, Billy Gibbons and Joe Bonamassa, to name just a few.
The CD highlights Dion’s passion for blues music, which has already been made undeniably clear from his previous recordings, such as “Bronx In Blue” (2005), “Son Of Skip James” (released in November 2007), and “Tank Full Of Blues” (2012).
Of the total 14 tracks in “Blues With Friends”, 12 bear Dion’s signature along with that of Mike Aquilina, a close associate of the American singer-songwriter.
