JOACHIM COODER

Following in the musical footsteps of his father and legendary musician, Ryland Peter “Ry” Cooder, Joachim Cooder releases his third album, “Over That Road I’m Bound”.
The album is a personal, in-depth exploration of tracks originally composed by Uncle Dave Macon (stage name of David Harrison Macon), reinterpreted in a folk style. Macon is considered one of the greatest exponents of early American country music.
Joachim Cooder adopts a highly respectful approach to Uncle Dave Macon’s compositions, whilst also updating them through modern musical elements. These have been created with an almost obsessive attention to detail and acoustics. He inherited this working method from his dad, Ry, who makes an appearance in the recording of “Over That Road I’m Bound” on the banjo, guitar, bass and backing vocals.
The album was produced and arranged by Joachim Cooder himself. It also features contributions from artists including the brilliant fiddler Rayna Gellert (who featured in recordings by the former Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, Loudon Wainwright III and Robyn Hitchcock), Canadian pianist Glenn Patscha (who has worked with Lucinda Williams, Levon Helm, Roger Waters, Willie Nelson, Bettye Lavette, The Holmes Brothers, Marc Cohn and who is also a member of the group Ollabelle) and Juliette Commagere (wife of Joachim and already a frontwoman, together with her husband, in the band Hello Stranger) in the backing vocals.
