LLOYD COLE
Guesswork (2019)
With some of the most interesting record works published in the much-discussed eighties to his name (in his own name or with his band The Commotions), in 2019 Lloyd Cole has published “Guesswork”. The record uses both modern and “dated” electronic instruments, but the result is far from sterile and cold.
In the 8 tracks on the CD (all composed by Cole, except “Remains” and “When I Came Down From The Mountain”, written by Cole along with Blair Cowan, former keyboard player of The Commotions), Lloyd Cole manages to captivate the listener with inebriating journeys through sounds that seemed to have been buried in the dust of the eighties but which, on the contrary, manage to emerge thanks to overflowing creativity.
