Welcome Farewell (2021)
"Welcome Farewell" is the fifth recording work by Kris Gruen.
Gruen was born in New York City but moved to Vermont years ago. And in the rural atmosphere of Vermont (among the woods, mountains and fields surrounding the family's organic farm) Gruen began writing the eight songs full of captivating "americana" and emblazoned folk of "Welcome Farewell". To these original compositions, he added Johnny Thunders' intense ballad "You Can't Put Your Arms Around A Memory" to close the album.
The album is produced by Gruen's longtime collaborator Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields, The Bones Of J.R. Jones, Kate Vargas) and played alongside, among others, the drummer Randy Schrager (Scissor Sisters, Jesse Malin) and the bassist Rob Morse (Anais Mitchell, Hades Town).
