THE WATERBOYS
Modern Blues (2015)
The album "Modern Blues" released in 2015 (as well as the preceding discographic works) proves that the singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Mike Scott is the undisputed leader of the British band The Waterboys. Moreover their works represent a fantastic bridge able to link the typical musical expressions from the USA (the "American" style first of all) with well-established staves peculiar of the European tradition.
Bob Clearmountain (person in charge for the album's mixing) provides with his presence captivating sound effects, which make the nine tracks of "Modern Blues" flowing and able to further stir the noble sound framework created by the band.
Commendable is the work of Steve Wickham playing the violin, often committed to fight a "duel" with the electric Guitar in the hands of (from time to time) Jay Barclay, Scott himself and Zach Ernst.
