John Mayall is one of the musicians that best represents British blues and rock blues. For more than 50 years (his debut album “Plays John Mayall” saw the light in March 1965), the English singer, guitarist, keyboardist and composer (born in 1933) has been holding high the banner of twelve-bar blues transferred to the UK.
Former members of his bands include musicians who later found success with critics and public (Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, John McVie, Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, to name just a few). On the 2019 album “Nobody Told Me”, the artist taken under Mayall’s protective wing is Texan guitarist Carolyn Wonderland.
Guest artists on the CD include Joe Bonamassa, Steven Van Zandt, Larry McCray and Alex Lifeson (guitarist of the band named Rush).
