When the record entitled “Sorta Surviving” appeared in April 2019, few rock music lovers believed that the album was by Tim Bluhm. The reason for this was the fact that the Californian singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist is the lead singer in the band named The Mother Hips, a band that is certainly excellent but light years away from the excellent country music included in “Sorta Surviving”.
And to demonstrate that country music is the genre that “Sorta Surviving” is filled with, it is sufficient to mention two cover pieces included in the record: “I Still Miss Someone” (one of the most famous songs by Johnny Cash) and the final “Kern River”, written and made famous by country music legend Merle Haggard.
