AMERICAN AQUARIUM
Lamentations (2020)
Formed in 2006 in Raleigh (the capital of the state of North Carolina and the seat of Wake County), the band American Aquarium has always been built around the charismatic figure of their singer, songwriter, and guitarist, BJ Barham.
Their 2020 album, ”Lamentations”, is one of Barham’s most inspired and ambitious works: ten no-frills tracks pulsating with intensity, shot through with straight rock.
The emotional crescendo of the first song, “Me + Mine”, the elegant pace of “The Long Haul”, and the atmosphere of musical calm conjured by “How Wicked I Was” provide clear evidence of American Aquarium’s artistic credibility.
