CHRISTONE KINGFISH INGRAM
662 (2021)
After performing with Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph, Tedeschi Trucks Band and other top-level artists; after making his debut album “Kingfish” (launched in May 2019 and considered the “best traditional Blues album” of the year), guitarist Christone Ingram (nicknamed “Kingfish” by musician Bill “Howl-N-Madd” Perry) is releasing his new, exciting Blues album, “662”.
The title is further confirmation of his much-trumpeted attachment to his roots: Ingram was born in Clarksdale and 662 is the telephone code for the northern half of the State of Mississippi, including Clarksdale.
Blues music couldn’t but be Ingram’s preferred genre, for two main reasons: in fact, John Lee Hooker (one of the masters of Blues) was born in Clarksdale in 1917 and just outside the city are the crossroads between highways 49 and 61 where legend has it that musician Robert Johnson sold his soul to the Devil to be able to play the guitar with such expertise.
“662” is a concentrate of powerful guitar licks and the majority of the 14 tracks (for more than 50 minutes’ listening) were written by the owner in collaboration with Tom Hambridge (producer of the album and collaborator of Roy Buchanan, Johnny Winter, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi, George Thorogood and many more).
“662” finishes with the bonus track “Rock & Roll” written by the Nashville composers Sean McConnell and Ashley Ray and for which Ingram adapted the lyrics to dedicate it to his mother Princess Pride (who died in December 2019).
