Deacon Blue's album "The Great Western Road" is released to mark the Scottish pop rock band's 40th anniversary and takes its title from the road that leads from central Glasgow to the West End, the neighborhood where Ricky Ross's band began to make a name for itself in the late 1980s. The album thus also becomes an opportunity to reflect on Deacon Blue's journey to date, with twelve delightful compositions written by Ross alone or together with guitarist Gregory Philip ("Late '88", "Wait On Me", "Ashore and Up Hope") or with the support of singer Lorraine McIntosh ("Underneath The Stars").
