VAN MORRISON

Remembering Now (2025)

Preceded by two cover albums and a release of archive material, "Remembering Now" presents a particularly inspired Van Morrison, at peace with himself, in his first album of original compositions since 2022.
"Remembering Now" contains a compelling sequence of songs that blend soul, jazz, blues, rhythm&blues, folk, gospel, and country, affectionate memories of his native Ireland (as in "Stomping Ground" and "Down To Joy", the latter already heard in the 2021 film "Belfast" directed by Kenneth Branagh), tributes to his musical heroes ("If It Wasn't For Ray"), references to old vinyl records ("Haven't Lost My Sense Of Wonder"), romantic ballads (often enriched by the string section The Fews Ensemble), long musical flows (the almost nine minutes of the concluding "Stretching Out").
