On her eighth studio album, "Returning To Myself", Brandi Carlile reflects on her past and metaphorically returns home. Not alone, however, but surrounded by a large number of friends: not only Andrew Watt (of the trio California Breed), Aaron Dessner (The National), and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), who produced the album with her, but also Josh Klinghoffer and Chad Smith (both of the Red Hot Chili Peppers), Matt Chamberlain, Blake Mills, Stewart Cole, and trumpeter Mark Isham.
The collaborative spirit also extends to the writing of the album's songs, as in the case of "You Without Me", a song written by the singer-songwriter from Ravensdale (King County, Washington) together with Watt, Elton John, and Bernie Taupin and already included in the 2025 album made in collaboration with the English pop star "Who Believes In Angels?".
