DAVE MASON (1946 – 2026)

Domenica 19 aprile è deceduto, all’età di 79 anni, il cantante, chitarrista e compositore Dave Mason. 

Nato il 10 maggio 1946 a Worchester (capoluogo della Contea inglese del Worchestershire), David Thomas "Dave" Mason esordisce giovanissimo nel gruppo di musica strumentale The Jaguars. 

Nel 1967 (insieme a Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi e Chris Wood) fonda Traffic, la band che gli regala notorietà e successo: la canzone Feelin’ Alright? da lui composta diventerà uno dei più grandi successi di Traffic e scalerà le classifiche di vendita grazie anche alla versione del 1969 fornita da Joe Cocker. 

Oltre a Traffic, alla militanza in Delaney&Bonnie e in Fleetwood Mac, alla presenza nel disco di George Harrison All Things Must Pass e alla collaborazione con Cass Elliot, Mason intraprende la carriera solista nel 1970 con l’album Alone Together.

Sulla sua pagina Facebook viene annunciato il decesso con queste parole: "It is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dave Mason. On Sunday, April 19, after cooking an amazing dinner with his beloved wife Winifred, he sat down to take a nap with sweet Star (the maltese) at his feet. He passed away peacefully, in his favorite chair, surrounded by the beautiful Carson Valley that he loved so much. A storybook ending. On his own terms. Which is how he lived his life right up until the end. 

He leaves a lasting imprint on the soundtrack of our lives and the hearts he has lifted. His legacy will be cherished forever."
