CURTIS SALGADO

The Beautiful Lowdown (2016)

Take a generous dose of blues, add a substantial part of reinvigorating soul, wild rhythm&blues, and a pinch of energetic funk. Complete the mix without scrimping on tabasco and nitro-glycerine. Shake it up vigorously and you will get a faint idea of what enjoying Curtis Salgado's explosive music is all about.
Brilliant singer, composer and harmonica player, the artist born in Everett (the county seat of Snohomish County, Washington, but brought up in Eugene, Oregon) releases "The Beautiful Lowdown", an inebriating CD bearing the dynamic Chicago Alligator Records label.
All of the twelve tracks of the album were composed by Salgato (solo, or with other musicians), except for the closing one: the sinuous "Hook Me Up" (with a formidable rhythmic section exceptionally lead by bassist Tracy Arrington and drummer Brian Foxworth), created by John Jacob “Johnny Guitar” Watson and originally featured by "Bow Wow", the 1994 record by the late Texan artist.
