ALBERTA CROSS

Sinking Ships (2023)

Artistic project created and managed by the composer, singer and guitarist from Uppsala in Sweden, Petter Ericson Stakee, Alberta Cross is one of the most interesting bands in today's indie-rock world, able to wisely mix captivating atmospheres of folk, rock and pop. Without disdaining a few genial forays into the most suave psychedelia.
"Sinking Ships", released at the end of March 2023, is played by Stakee together with multi-instrumentalist Luke Potashnick (also producer of the work), Tom Visser and Dom Greensmith (both on drums), Richard Causon (keyboards) and Johan Zeitler (synthesiser).
Stakee's signature appears on most of the ten tracks of "Sinking Ships", except on "Between You And Me" (by Stakee, Potashnick and Martin Craft), "Near Missus And Defeats" (this song, split into two parts and composed by Stakee, Potashnick and Visser, was already included on the 2020 album "What Are We Frightened"?) and the final "Every Time The Sun Comes Up" (by US singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten and included by her at the end of her 2014 album "Are We There").
"Sinking Ships" was recorded and mixed at Wool Hall Studios in Beckington (Somerset, England), formerly owned by Van Morrison and subsequently managed by Luke Potashnick. Prestigious recording studios used by the likes of Annie Lennox, The Smiths, Tears For Fears, Joni Mitchell, Paul Weller, The Pretenders and, of course, Van Morrison.
