ANDERSON EAST
Encore (2018)
This is the second, sparkling discographic release by Anderson East (if we exclude the 2009 album “Closing Credits For A Fire”, released as Michael Anderson) following his noteworthy debut “Delilah”.
Like its predecessor, “Encore” is produced by Dave Cobb, who also appears as songwriter and guitarist on some of the tracks.
Anderson’s voice is powerful and moves with ease across the CD’s eleven tracks, filled with soul and rhythm & blues, sometimes touching remarkable expressive heights.
The songs are penned by East alongside other artists (including Chris Stapleton and his wife Morgane, Ed Sheeran, the aforementioned Dave Cobb, Steve McEwan), with the exception of the jaunty “Sorry You’re Sick” (by Ted Hawkins) and the intense “Somebody Pick Up My Pieces” (by Willie Nelson).
