BRUCE COCKBURN

O Sun O Moon (2023)

It has been a remarkable 53 years since Bruce Cockburn's debut album, which bore his name and was produced by Eugene "Gene" Martynec. The excellent 78-year-old Canadian musician (originally from Ottawa but residing in California for many years) has not lost any of his effective songwriting and refined interpretive power, as superbly demonstrated in his recent album (officially released on May 12 of this year), "O Sun O Moon".
Produced by Cockburn's Canadian musician friend Colin Linden (hailing from Toronto and who is also responsible for the album's recording and mixing), "O Sun O Moon" features twelve compositions by Cockburn himself, with the exception of the beautiful "To Keep The World We Know", co-written by Cockburn and Susan Aglukark, a prominent figure in Inuit music.
Several artists contributed to the recording of "O Sun O Moon", including the crystalline voices of Shawn Colvin, Ann & Regina McCrary, Buddy Miller, Allison Russell, Sarah Jarosz, and the aforementioned Susan Aglukark. The album also features Viktor Krauss on double bass, Gary Craig on drums and percussion, Jeff Taylor on accordion, and Colin Linden on guitars.
