WALTER TROUT
We're All In This Together (2017)
When all hope that Walter Trout would be able to survive his illness appeared to have vanished, in May 2014 a providential liver transplant allowed the North American musician (born in Ocean City, New Jersey, on March 6th 1951) not only to heal but even to continue with his artistic activity (the 2015 album “Battle Scars” was excellent proof of this).
In addition to being a powerful blues rock album, “We’re All In This Together” is a joyous meeting of high-level musicians intent on celebrating their re-found friend.
Trout (who played in bands such as Canned Heat and John Mayall’s The Bluesbreakers) is unstoppable with his electric six-string and dialogues with other well established guitarists such as Kenny Wayne Shapherd (on the robust opener “Gonna Hurt Like Hell”), Robben Ford (on the instrumental “Mr.Davis”), Mike Zito (on the restless “She Listens To The Blackbird Sing”, with its scent of southern rock), Warren Haynes (on the reinterpretation of the classic “The Sky Is Crying”), Joe Bonamassa (on the almost 8 minute-long scorching closing title track).
We must also mention the other friends supplying their contribution in “We're All In This Together”, starting with Trout’s son Jon. Plus the following: Sonny Landreth, Charlie Musselwhite, Eric Gales, Edgar Winter, Joe Louis Walker, John Nemeth, Randy Bachman, John Mayall.
